Counselor's Corner

Welcome to the Poulakidas Wildcats Counselor's Corner

Hello Poulakidas Community!! Welcome Back!

Dear Student Supporters,

I hope everyone has had a nice summer! Your School Counselor is new this school year and I am excited to be serving you and your students. Here are some of the ways I will support you:

Services:

  • Member of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and Nevada School Counselors Association (NvSCA) providing a comprehensive school counseling program modeled off both Associations’ focus domains: Academic, Social, and Career
  • Monthly Social/Emotional Learning Curriculum taught in the classrooms
  • Small group and individual counseling
  • Provide community resources and referrals
  • Multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) and Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) team member
  • 504 plan case manager
  • Children in Transition (CIT) Liaison
  • Teach SHARE for 4th and 5th graders

As always, I am here to positively support your child as they grow academically and socially. When your student comes to see me, what they tell me is confidential due to their right of privileged communication. I do, however, highly encourage an open line of communication between you, your student and the school counselor. There are three instances where we will need to break confidentiality: if a student reports they are being harmed, if a student reports they are, or are planning to harm themselves, and/or if a student reports that they, or someone else, plans to do harm to others. As a mandated reporter, it’s my “Duty to Warn,” thus keeping students safe.

There will be a school counselor available before and after school, or you are encouraged to make an appointment. Please never hesitate to call or email if you need assistance. 😊

Sincerely,

Poulakidas Wildcat School Counselor
